After the seemingly endless winter in the North East, I can't think of a better way to celebrate the warmer weather than sitting out in the yard or on your porch. During the spring and summer months, your porch or backyard are the perfect places to enjoy the outdoors. Sprucing up these areas also add beauty and value to your home. Here are a few tips to elevate your space, bring the indoors out, and create the ultimate stay-cation spot.
Mini Garden: Invite nature into your space. You can use various kinds of flowers and plants to turn your space into your own personal paradise. Use different size and height planters. Oversized plants are a great touch for a tropical feel.
Lighting: Light it up! Use lighting to up the ambiance. Lanterns and candles are awesome and double as great decor. String lights will give the space a lively feel. Lighting extends the amount of time you are able to stay out and enjoy the space making a definite must have.
Seating: If you are planning to spend a lot of time outdoors you will need seating for you and your guests. Pick up a few comfy chairs. You can give your space a little extra pizzazz with printed chair cushions for dining chairs that may not be so inviting so sit on. A cool swing/hammock chair will make the space feel very relaxed.
Vibes: Lately, everything is about the vibe. To create a mood that reflects your personal style and atmosphere you wish to achieve try mixing textures, patterns and fabrics. Don't be scared to use bold patterns and bright colors but be sure to break it up a bit with solids or smaller prints. The way you arrange your furniture also contributes to the overall vibe of a space. A U-shape layout is most inviting and comfortable when gathering with a group of people.
Accessorize: Make your space unique. Hang fabric curtains for a more private setting. Pile your chairs or couches with pillows for a cozier feel. Outdoor rug are a great too. They add an additional element to the space while helping to bring it all together. You can never go wrong with a fire pit. On cold nights it will be the main area of attraction with friends and family.
